Forever etched in our minds and heart is a place we call home- Mombasa. After being away for a while, one of the things that we missed most was food- OUR coastal foods. Adjusting to a fast life became easy but nothing could replace the love we have for our city and of course food! Almost every conversation we had with people from different backgrounds came to explaining our culture, where we are from and definitely bragging about our sandy beaches and mouth watering foods. Visualizing all this was obviously easy for us but we needed a way to show it to everyone and therefore this is where the idea of Mombasa Eats came from.
As Mombasa Eats we are looking to publicize our local restaurants, be it big or small, and make not only our locals but everyone who enjoys food more aware of the various cuisines Mombasa has to offer. Having mahamri and barazi for breakfast to enjoying a Mombasa mix with cold passion juice followed by a quick lunch with burger and fries or biriani if you wish, then go to Mama Ngina Drive for the view while munching on muhogo, viazi, kachri or simply have madafu to cool off and end the night with an exquisite dinner at one of our many restaurants. This would definitely be our ideal day!
Mombasa restaurants cater for all kinds of people. We are certain that our coastal cuisines are definitely one of things that bring out the life in Mombasa. It all however depends on one’s mood and cravings and we definitely know Mombasa has this covered so be it getting pleasure from simple foods at lighthouse to pleasing your palette with our mshikaki or “chapo” or opting for of the many International cuisines such as Indian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese etc. Majority go for their usual dishes but this way we can persuade or entice you all to try new and different foods and also grow your palettes too.
With the Tourism Industry getting a huge boost at the moment, it is time for the Food and Beverage Industry to rise and be on par which is why we are encouraging you to post your meals on our Instagram Page- Mombasa_Eats and like our Facebook page Mombasa Eats. You can simply tag us in your picture or #mombasa_eats. You could also email us your pictures on firstname.lastname@example.org. We would also be honored to collaborate with restaurant owners and private caterers to not only help boost your businesses but also bring more awareness.
They say never judge a book by its cover, likewise, never judge a restaurant before you have even given it a try. Everyone’s taste is different. Explore and see it for yourself.
