Everyone loves a cup of tea to get the day going, but sometimes regular tea becomes boring. Now a day’s even tea companies try to spice up the tea they sell. They have introduced different types of tea combination to increase their sales. Some mixtures have been introduced by different cultures along the way, in different countries each culture have their own unique way of making tea as well, to make that cup of tea more delicious. In the Swahili culture it is also the same, they add different spices to make the “Swahili tea”. They add cinnamon sticks and cardamom to make it spicier, below is a simple recipe to make Swahili tea.
Ingredients
- Milk
- Tea Leaves
- Cardamom
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Additional (if preferred)
- Dried Thyme
- Ginger powder
- Black pepper
- Sugar
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients in a sufuria (pot) let it cook till it boils.
Then put the heat to low and let it simmer for a minute or two.
Then increase the heat till the milk boils and remove.
Serve with cookies, mahamri or Chapati.
