The new unveiled Infinix Hot2 is now ready for purchase in the Kenya market, at Ksh. 8,999 on Jumia. A result Google Android One program is the first phone of its kind in Africa. The android one Program by Google was launched in India in 2014 to introduce low-cost High end phones into developing countries.
The affordable phone gives users top quality technology, a delightful experience of the OS at the right price. I got to spend time with the dual sim device and share my observations below.
Size and specification
The slim yet sturdy design of the phone is good when handling in one hand. It feels like a much more expensive device due to the crisp 5 inch display. The weight is well balanced and gives you a good feel when holding it. The speakers are placed at the bottom and on the side for clarity when making calls and playing music.
5.0 inch display and high-definition (1280 x 720 pixels) which is excellent when watching YouTube videos, reading text and decent visibility while in use outdoors.
The rear camera is good for daylight photos and the app is quick to launch without any lag. The 8mp camera really brings out the detail in every shot. Likewise in its auto-focus feature that creates a nice blur on the background to capture your focused image. The HDR mode creates rich beautiful photos. The 2mp front camera is perfect for selfies however it photos may not be as crisp as you would want it still gets the job done.

1.3GHz Quad-Core processor
The quad-core processor is ideal for a heavy social media user; the processor is able to handle multiple applications running without hanging the phone. With most applications loading photos and videos, the processor continued working smoothly. It runs the browser with 5 tabs open and about 6 apps in the background with ease.
Operating System – Android One
The OS is surprisingly clean from the first look with big clear icons and a flatter design. It is also easier to use especially when accessing the phone options, app drawer and a more straightforward way of handling app permissions. Google also promises quicker and painless updates with this android version.
First, it comes with a removable battery which is good as some people have a preference for those. The phone comes with 2200 mAh battery which will get most people through the day with average use of social media apps, browsing and listening to music. However, heavy users will need a recharge before the end of the day.
I recommend the infinix Hot 2 to any person who is into social media, multi tasks alot and loves selfies. For an entry level smartphone at that price, the Infinix Hot 2 will be hard to beat.
