I would be fascinated by the tellers, and people transacting. It was my first encounter with banking systems. It was one of the few banks in Mombasa. The building was iconic. It was one of the banks people encountered with including the one in Nkrumah. The Nkrumah road branch was the first branch in Kenya, they opened in 1916, which became the springboard of their presence in the coast region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Over 100 years in Kenya, Barclays bank transitions to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.absabank.co.ke\/personal\/\">Absa Bank<\/a> with officially launching in Mombasa on 26<sup>th<\/sup> February 2020 at Fort Jesus. The Launch was to introduce the new brand, and the redefined products and service with the new transition. They hope to combine the best of their century-long experience in Kenya, with new cutting-edge technologies, innovative products and a vibrant new brand to continue connecting the dreams and aspirations of the Kenyan people to the financial resources needed to accomplish them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the development progress include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>SME proposition to include unsecured loans of up\nto KES10 million; LPO financing and invoice discounting of up to KES50 million.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/li><li>Kenya\u2019s first vertical credit and debit cards\nwhich offer customers increased convenience and a wide range of benefits\nincluding cashback rewards and discounts in shopping outlets across the world.<\/li><li>Redefined mortgage offering to include 100%\nfinancing, with the most competitive rate in the market of 11.75%<\/li><li>Enhanced Timiza, virtual banking proposition, to\nencourage a savings culture with the best rate in the market.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As they enter a new era they bring new energy and the vibrancy\nwith the new Absa brand, they hope to achieve many more for the existing\ncustomer and new potential customers. Their objective is to a holistic\nfinancial services provider with a wide range of products including insurance,\nasset management, investment, virtual banking.
